Day Services Teacher

Trent Hill Center is seeking an on-site teacher for the Day Services Program to work closely with the Case Manager and Program Manager to identify individual participant needs, recognize individual goals, and communicate with each participant’s DSS caseworker to begin actionable steps toward meeting these needs/goals.

 

Day Services Teacher Job Description

General responsibilities of the Day Services teacher include but are not limited to:

·       Planning and scheduling daily educational lessons with the partnership of the Education Coordinator

·       Facilitating the implementation of daily on-site educational lessons

·       Attending all scheduled off-site educational visits with community partners

·       Setting clear and consistent expectations of youth participants for both off-site and on-site educational lessons, visits, and experiences

·       Surveying long-term participants for individual education goals and needs using surveys and data collection processes designed and/or approved by Education Coordinator

·       Overseeing daily virtual learning for identified youth participants, as needed

·       Communicating survey results and general education observations of daily youth participants to Education Coordinator regularly

·       Partnering with the Education Coordinator to monitor and adjust curriculum as needed to best meet participant needs and goals

 

Standard Responsibilities

·       Respect and maintain the confidentiality of youth participating in all Trent Hill Center programs.

·       Always conduct oneself in an ethical manner. 

·       Treat participants and other employees with integrity and respect. 

·       Report suspected child abuse and neglect to the Out of Home Abuse and Neglect Unit of SCDSS or to a law enforcement agency in the county where the child resides or is found. 

 

The ideal candidate for this position would have teaching or other child development experience with a bachelor’s degree or higher level of education. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of building a rapport with young people is strongly preferred; though preference may be given to candidates with teaching certification, it is not required. All candidates must be adept using computers and other educational technology; proficient in Microsoft and Google based platforms such as Outlook, One Drive, Excel, and Word.
